It is the renovation of a prestigious building, designed by the architects Afra and Tobia Scarpa in the Sixties.
The house has been passed from father to son and makes thus a generational leap. It is a modern house in concrete, rich in typically Scarpa-style details. The design intervention originates from the owner’s will to modernise the interiors by adapting them to the modern needs of living, with a focus on technologies, home systems and home facilities.  The intervention is partly preservative and partly integrative; it is mostly a cleaning intervention that aims at consolidating the pre-existent structure, which is inevitably “used”. The evidence of time passing is not hidden, concealed. This is the reason why the design aims at the preservation of the building and its exteriors, combined with some non-invasive interventions, such as changes on the holes in walls of constructions to allow the permeability of light inside the house, without altering its original meaning. The relation between the house and the surrounding environment is preserved. As far as possible, the added elements are located underground not to disturb the harmony of an old and precious environmental balance.


Il progetto riguarda la ristrutturazione di una casa di notevole pregio architettonico, costruita negli anni sessanta dagli architetti Afra e Tobia Scarpa. L’intervento progettuale nasce dai precisi intenti della committenza di attualizzare l’ambiente domestico adeguandolo alle moderne esigenze del vivere, soprattutto dal punto di vista impiantistico, tecnologico, domotico. L’intervento è in parte conservativo, in parte integrativo, e per certi versi si limita al cleanig, al consolidamento di ciò che già esiste ma che è inevitabilmente consunto poiché vissuto. È fortemente visibile sull’edificio il segno del passare del tempo, che non vuole essere nascosto, mascherato. Per questo il progetto è volto alla conservazione della struttura esistente e dell’involucro dell’edificio, salvo alcune precisazioni e modifiche della forometria che rendono la casa più permeabile alla luce e per questo luminosa, più vivibile, senza alterarne lo spirito originario. Permangono invece i caratteri ed il rapporto del costruito con l’ambiente esterno ed il paesaggio.
Tutte le addizioni, per quanto possibile, sono state relegate nell’interrato, in modo da non turbare l’armonia di un equilibrio ambientale consolidato e prezioso.
